The Porsche 356 is a German sports car that was first presented to the public in 1948. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted until 1965. It was concentrated in the Stuttgart plants in Germany. Approximately 76,000 copies of this model were produced in its course.
The Porsche 356 was the brand’s first mass-produced sports car. The model was based on designs and prototypes developed by Ferdinand Porsche during World War II. The Porsche 356 was a car powered by 1.1 to 2-liter 4-cylinder engines, always air-cooled. Interestingly, in order to reduce the cost of work on the 356 model, many elements were very similar or even identical to … VW Beetle! This fact is not surprising considering that Ferdinand Porsche was one of its designers. However, this does not change the fact that the Porsche 356 had at least good performance, clearly sporty character and good traction. The advantages of the car can be proved by the fact of numerous successes on race tracks, including at Le Mans or the Mille Migllia rally. Porsche 356 was offered as a coupe and convertible. The company’s offer has been replaced by the famous “911”.
