The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a mid-range, low-wing, twin-engine, low-wing passenger jet in the USA. The drive is provided by two General Electric GEnx or Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines. The flight of the prototype took place in 2009, and serial production started in 2010 and is still going on. By April 2017, 532 copies of this aircraft had been produced. The unit price of the Boeing 787 varies from $ 224 million to $ 306 million, depending on the version. During the design of the Boeing 787, great emphasis was placed on low fuel consumption, which led to the use of new, highly fuel-efficient engines. It is also the first passenger plane in which the entire fuselage and wings are made of composites. In the entire structure, they constitute as much as 50% of the materials used! Similarly to the 777 model, a very modern avionics using the fly-by-wire system was also used. The Boeing 787 also managed to set a flight endurance and speed record in its class of machines. The machine is built in three basic versions: 787-8, 787-9 and 787-10, which differ in the length of the fuselage and the capacity of the passenger compartment. The 787-8 version of the aircraft has been in use by LOT Polish Airlines since 2012.
