Academy US Navy CH-53D Operation Frequent Wind Helicopter 1/72 PKAY12575
USMC CH-53D Sea Stallion, Operation Frequent Wind – Academy 12575
The CH-53 is a NATO helicopter that took its first flight in 1962. A highly effective transport, the CH-53G variant is currently in service with Germany, which received 112 aircraft for use in training exercises and missions. To lift heavy loads in tropical climates the USMC acquired an improved variant, the CH-53D, with more powerful engines, first the T64-GE-412 and then the T64-GE-413, with matching gearboxes and an increased cargo capacity of 55 troops. This kit includes transparent and plastic parts ready for a faithful recreation of the CH-53D transport helicopter as used in Operation Frequent Wind, the final evacuation of Saigon, in 1/72 scale.
